Who is Ei in Genshin Impact ?

If you've been following the Inazuma Archon quests as well as the Raiden: Imperatrix Umbrosa story quest, you may have discovered that the actual Electro Archon is actually named Ei. This revelation may seem a bit confusing since the Archon has been named in several ways during your game: Baal, Raiden Shogun, Beelzebub or Narukami Ogosho. But who is Ei in Genshin Impact? Genshin Impact Ei identity

Baal is the first name that comes up when talking about the Electro Archon. However, the actual Archon is actually called Ei in Genshin Impact. He is also called Beelzebub, not Baal.

Baal (Makoto) is none other than her twin sister. She was the first Electro Archon. The two sisters took on this role together in the past, without the people knowing anything about it. Ei always acted in her shadow. She protected Inazuma in battle, while Makoto was the public face and took care of political affairs.

So when Baal perished during the assault on Khaenri'ah, Ei assumed his role without telling the people. The people continued to believe that Baal was leading them.

But in the end, it was not really Ei who ruled over Inazuma. She had created Raiden Shogun, a puppet, to exercise this role in her place. The real Ei had retired to the Plane of Euthymia to meditate and preserve her eternity.

Genshin Impact Ei's story

Ei and Makoto are two distinct beings in Genshin Impact. However, in the eyes of the people, and even of Teyvat, there is only the Archon Baal. However, the two young women had two very different ideals. Ei wanted eternity to protect her people from change, while Makoto believed that change was inevitable.

Nevertheless, Ei assisted her sister in the shadows. She served as her kagemusha, her double. Unlike Makoto, Ei from Genshin Impact was a formidable fighter, she even defeated the god Orobashi. But during the various battles she participated in, her friends died one by one, leaving her alone. She even lost her own sister.

Haunted by all these deaths, Ei dedicated herself to eternity. She took refuge in the euthymic plane to meditate and protect herself from corrosion. Unfortunately, she was then tricked by Fatui into implementing the Vision Hunt Decree. This was to confiscate the Vision. It was then that the Traveler arrived in Inazuma.

After the Traveler's intervention, Ei realized that her sister was right: change was inevitable. This revelation pushed her to leave her dimension and abandon the Vision Hunt Decree. She eventually confronted the puppet she had created in order to stop it and finally take matters into her own hands.

Little by little, Ei opens Inazuma again on the world of Genshin Impact. We discover a much warmer and softer Archon than his puppet. This one was cold and ruthless. On the contrary, Ei is curious about life in Inazuma. Ei shares a very close bond with Yae Miko, the only friend she has left.

Who is Raiden Shogun ?

Raiden Shogun is the playable version of the Electro Archon. It is a puppet created by Ei in Genshin Impact. But there is an ambiguity about this character.
