CoD Mobile: one team disqualified for BM

BM CoD Mobile

All video game fans who play online games are familiar with the phenomenon of BM (Bad Manners). There are many ways to BM your opponents, but the most popular form is to "Teabagger" your enemies after killing them. This consists of crouching over their dead body or emptying your magazine on it. It's totally unnecessary, but it's a way to taunt the defeated enemy. While his camera is blocked for a few seconds, he has to watch helplessly. This practice is widespread and appreciated by a large part of the community. They consider BM to be part of the culture of CoD Mobile.

The problem is that the organisers of the Throwback Throwdown CoD Mobile tournament (20,000 dollars at stake) decided to ban the pro team Tragik for "Teabagging". A radical sanction that triggered a controversy.

BM CoD Mobile: a questionable practice

BM CoD Mobile is a practice that flirts with certain limits. For some, it is good-natured trolling, a way to have fun and make players laugh. But for others, it's a toxic practice that ruins the victims' gaming experience. Indeed, it's never very pleasant to be taunted once you're dead... And gamers aren't always known for being good losers. Moreover, the fact of emptying your magazine on a dead body can shock. It's no longer a question of duelling an opponent or fighting for survival. Instead, the aim is to humiliate the opponent, which in real life would be the same as mutilating corpses. As far as the image is concerned, it's a bit average and while video games try to buy an image of cultural practice for all, the BM of this type raises questions.

Why did the exclusion of the Tragik team cause a scandal?

We'll let you make up your own mind about the BM CoD Mobile. But beyond the debate about the nature of the practice, the exclusion of the Tragik team in the middle of the tournament caused a scandal for several other reasons.

  • The BM came after a clutch in 1v3. An incredibly difficult action to pull off where the BM was just a way for the player to express his joy.
  • The tournament rules were reportedly changed a few hours before the start of the competition. This change would not have given the teams enough time to get used to the rules.
  • In CoD Mobile or in other disciplines esport, big teams and big players never get punished. So there is a feeling that there are some untouchables.

From your side, do we validate the sanction or not? 🙄
