Esport Wild Rift: $200,000 tournament in the Philippines

esport wild rift: first big tournament

While LoL: Wild Rift has not yet been released in every country in the world, the competitive fever is already being felt. It's not yet clear what the future ofesport Wild Rift will look like, but competition is in the DNA of this Mobile MOBA which could well follow the same path as its big brother League of Legends on PC. In any case, the signs are encouraging. After the opening of the first esport Wild Rift posts, the first big tournament is coming up. It will take place in the Philippines and players will be able to win over $200,000! The information comes from Sports Interactive Network Philippines and should be taken very seriously.

In the West, the competitive scene is still a bit behind and apart from show matches, fans ofesport have not had much to eat. But if the mayonnaise takes off in Asia, there is no reason why Europe and America should not follow.

Mineski behind the first circuit esport Wild Rift

The giant Riot Games has not decided to embark on the esport Wild Rift adventure alone. It has therefore delegated the responsibility for its first competitive circuit to Mineski. Created in 2014, this structure esport knows the MOBA universe well. It has notably made a name for itself on the side of DotA 2, where it has participated in several The International and even won a Major in 2018. It is reasonable to think that with this announcement, it is now considering launching a roster on LoL: Wild Rift.

esport Wild Rift: points and cash-prize system
Distribution of the cash-prize.

The tour will be part of the Philippines Pro Gaming League (PPGL) and will run for several months. There will be two separate seasons where a total of $208,200 will be distributed to participants. Mineski has opted for a rather original cash-prize distribution and has not predetermined any amount based on ranking. Teams will earn tour points during the year. Each point will earn cash. This unusual system should guarantee fierce competition at all levels!

How to qualify?

Only teams that are based in the Philippines can take part in the tour. There will be no passes or invitations. Competitors will earn their spot on the Summoner's Rift by participating in open qualification rounds. Mineski has determined 4 regions to ensure maximum representation: N. Luzon, S. Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
