Apex Legends was released in February 2019 on PC, Xbox and Playstation. If a version on Switch should arrive soon, it is rumoured that the game could soon have its mobile version!
The mobile sector would indeed be a good way to give the game a second wind. Especially since Battle Royale is still very much in vogue. PUBG and its E-sport competitions are very dynamic, while Fortnite with its new season is still very active.
Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, revealed in an interview thatApex Legends Mobile was a serious goal. He envisages an early release, possibly in beta, by the end of 2020. While such a project has been mentioned before, this is the first time the company has mentioned a deadline.
With over 70 million players claimed, Apex Legends is still lagging behind Fortnite, the number one competitor. The latter boasts over 350,000 million players, which is a huge gap.
The difference is partly due to the mobile version of Fortnite which is doing well. But it is certain that by opening up to a new market and a new audience, Eletronic Arts' Battle Royale could narrow the gap a little. We know that China, Korea and India are particularly fond of phone games.
If the game is coming to mobile, the community is entitled to have specific requirements. Especially since, as mentioned above, the game is not in a strong position against the competition.
