Mobile Games News Recap | Week of December 5 to 11, 2022

Discover the weekly recap of the mobile games news on Android and iOS for the week of December 5th to 11th, 2022! On the agenda this week: the beta of The Division Resurgence, a new game mode for Among Us, the launch of the Mobi Awards and much more to discover in this recap. We'll let you read it all below. ⬇️

New The Division Resurgence beta phase

We start our weekly recap with the The Division Resurgence closed beta on Android. Announced in a trailer in July, this mobile opus of Ubisoft's post-apocalyptic MMORPG is presented as a prequel to the franchise that takes place in New York. In terms of content, this beta allows players to discover the beginning of the main storyline and the open world that is full of activities.

Compete against other survivors in PvP mode to collect as much stuff as possible in the Darkzone and try to survive in PvPvE. You have until December 22 to register for The Division Resurgence beta.

For its part, Fortnite renews itself with Chapter 4 of Season 1, which brings a brand new island, weapons, vehicles, territory control and powers, such as a pickaxe that allows you to jump in the air or an eagle to take information about enemies.

Viking Rise, the future strategy game from the creators of Lords Mobile

The creators of the popular Lords Mobile are embarking on a new strategic adventure on Android. In Viking Rise, available in open beta in some regions, you play as a Viking clan leader in charge of dominating the territory. Form or join alliances, go on raids, collect treasures in single and multiplayer.

But Viking Rise also invites you to take part in naval battles for control of Viking lands and seas. The beta will become available to more countries in the coming months, and although an iOS version is planned, it does not yet have a release date. So you'll have to wait a little longer before you can fight on the battlefield in honor of the father of everything.

The new Among Us Hide n Seek mode

This week, Among Us presented its new game mode during the Game Awards ceremony. In this official Hide and Seek mode, as in the community mods, imposters are no longer hidden and must kill other players head-on.

On the other hand, the crewmates will have to remain discreet to carry out their tasks without being spotted by the murderers. Just announced, this Hide & Seek mode is already available on all Among Us versions, even on mobile.

Marvel Snap Season 3: Power Cosmic is released

After season 2 which featured the Black Panther universe on the occasion of the release of the movie Wakanda Forever, Marvel Snap welcomes its season 3: Power Cosmic, starring the Silver Surfer, the herald sent by Galactus.

Marvel Snap Season 3 : Power Cosmic begins

And who says new season, says new cards. Four new characters from the Marvel universe are joining the TCG. In addition to Silver Surfer, accessible at level 1 of the Season Pass, Knull, Sentry and Darkhawk integrate the series 5 with the rarest cards of the game.

We also note the arrival of 20 card variants as well as 4 new slots that have been promoted this week with a very nice clip on a Martin Garrix and JVKE music illustrated by couples of superheroes. Find all the details in our article on the Marvel Snap season 3 new features.

Revenant lands in Apex Mobile

Already known to Apex players on PC, the Revenant legend has just been released on Apex Legends Mobile with the new Underworlds season. This former hitman transformed into a robot is an offensive character with great mobility.

He can hinder his opponents by preventing them from casting their abilities, but also save his allies from death with his Totem of Frag. Head over to our article on how to get Revenant in Apex Legends Mobile.

In parallel, leaks indicate that the next legends to join the mobile port of Electronic Arts' BR would be: Horizon, the gravitational manipulator, and Valkyrie, the winged avenger.

In other FPS news, COD Mobile is set to launch its Season 11 on December 14 with the new Crossroads map, where players will battle in Ground War 2.0 mode.

Mir M Vanguard & Vagabond Beta

In the direct line of Mir 4, the play-to-earn MMORPG Mir M Vanguard & Vagabond launches in closed beta for a few days, from December 8 to 11 via Google Play Store for Android devices.

New title of the MIR license, this opus takes the blockchain torch of the franchise to offer large-scale battles and a redesign of the profession progression system renamed Mandala. You can already pre-register for Mir M since the end of November so you don't miss out on future phases of test.

TFT set 8 released with patch 12.23

This is it, TFT set 8 has just arrived on the live servers with the release of patch 12.23. In this set, titledAttack of the Monsters, the main new feature is the addition of Augments heroic, which forces you to play a champion in exchange for an individual or whole team bonus.

TFT set 8 Hero Augments

We detail the effects of all the optimizations in our TFT set 8 Augments tier list.

Suzerain Release, the award-winning political narrative game

If you're a strategist at heart, in addition to TFT's Set 8, you might like to check out Suzerain, a multi-award winning text-based RPG released this week. As President Rayne, the new ruler of Sordland, you'll have to manage your territory in an optimized way and constantly navigate between corruption and justice.

Sign decrees, make difficult decisions, and overcome all the political maneuvering around you to make Sordland a prosperous territory. The first two parts of Suzerain are available for free, about 1 hour of gameplay on Android and iOS, then you'll have to pay about 5 euros to access the full game.

Dead Cells prepares a collaboration with Castlevania

Here's a heartwarming news before the winter starts. My favorite cartoon series joins Dead Cells in a DLC dedicated to Castlevania. The Belmonts, the big boss Vlad Dracula and Alucard Tepes integrate this excellent French roguelike in early 2023 after incredible collaborations like Shovel Knight or Hollow Knight.

I've never played Castlevania but the animated series on Netflix is a pure masterpiece of animation and writing. The fights are insane, the characters have a real personality and the atmosphere is incredible during the 4 seasons with an ending just right. I advise you to watch it in VO if you haven't already.

New Google Play Store feature to restore game data

Attention mobile game addicts, you can now make room on your phone without feeling guilty. Thanks to the Play Store application archive, you'll now have access to an application restore button to reinstall the game you've uninstalled and all your game saves, guaranteed and without going through the login system.

Netflix game Too Hot to Handle release

Speaking of games that you might play for an hour for a laugh, but uninstall in the process, Netflix is releasing Too Hot to Handle this week on Android and iOS.

The concept is simple: stupid and sexy young people think they are participating in a reality show to spend the hottest summer of their lives, ideally with several partners, and find themselves blocked in their plans by Lana.

Lana is a bizarre mix between an essential oil diffuser and a connected speaker that knocks money out of the group's overall pool whenever two contestants grope each other in the corner. And there you have it, you create your contestant and you can participate in this genius reality show in the form of a pick-your-own game available for free with your Netflix subscription.

Netflix announces Valiant Hearts during the game awards

Eight years after the Valiant Hearts release on PC and consoles, Ubisoft has just announced the sequel to the license during the Game Awards.

The storyline of this second installment will immerse you in the story of four American soldiers, members of the Harlem Hellfighters, the first African-American infantry unit that fought in World War I. Valiant Hearts: Coming Home will be available in early 2023, exclusively for Netflix subscribers on Android and iOS.

MMORPG Miko Era: Twelve Myths goes on pre-registration on Android and iOS

On the pre-registration side, the MMORPG Miko Era: Twelve Myths launches this week. Offered by Eyougame, Miko Era invites you to discover its universe between combat and social links, guided by your need to protect your city from the forces of evil.

But this struggle through dungeons, alone or in guilds, shouldn't stop you from taking time to complete quests, upgrade your 12 Mikos and their equipment, and even start a family. With no release date yet, Miko Era is available for pre-registration on Android and iOS.

FTC sues Microsoft over its acquisition of Activision Blizzard

It had to happen. After the announcement of the investigation on the buyout of Activision Blizzard King by Microsoft launched by the British supervisory institution and the European Commission, the USA is getting involved. The Federal Trade Commission, or FTC for short, has finally decided to take Microsoft to court to prevent the takeover.

Without too much information on the subject for the moment apart from this attempt to block it, we prefer to keep you informed of the situation as the weeks go by and to evaluate later the implications of future court decisions for the sharing of the video game market.

Launch of Vampire Survivors on mobile

During the Game Awards pre-show, we could see a new Vampire Survivors trailer on mobile. While the version 1.0 of Vampire Survivors was released in October on PC and Xbox, the roguelite at the crossroad of Archero and The Binding of Isaac still had no release date on mobile.

So it was with surprise that gamers learned that Vampire Survivors was being released immediately on Android and iOS. So don't wait any longer to fight hordes of demons and creatures of all kinds in this dynamic and addictive RPG.

Hibernate the Witcher on mobile

As winter approaches, the trees die and so does The Witcher: Monster Slayer. The augmented reality mobile game in Andrzej Sapkowski's universe will close on June 30, 2023, and you'll have to end your Witcher career on mobile.

Closing of The Witcher: Monster Slayer

But it's not the only game to suffer from abandonment, as CD Projekt seems to be gradually pulling the plug on Gwent, which will soon go into hibernation. Support for the game will end and, despite the 72 new maps planned for 2023, and the monthly balancing updates, there will be no new maps from 2024 onwards.

In any case, say goodbye to Monster Slayer, as the developers are gradually reassigned to other CD Projekt projects.

Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song launch trailer

Available since the beginning of the month on Android and iOS, Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song remastered gets a launch trailer this week.

Particularly known by gamers from the 90's, this license is back with reworked graphics and optimized gameplay on mobile. Romancing SaGa offers you to create your own story in this RPG made famous in 1992 and available for 25 euros.

Riot Games NetEase sues for HyperFront

On the legal side, the FPS Hyper Front is in the news this week with Riot Games which is suing the NetEase studio for plagiarizing the game Valorant. And the least we can say is that Riot is taking this case seriously with complaints in the UK, Brazil, Singapore and Germany, depending on the specifics of each country's copyright laws.

If there is no doubt that Hyper Front is modelled on Valorant, in its gameplay and graphics, we'll let the courts decide between the two studios in this case.

Path of Ra released on Android and iOS

Faced with the balance of souls of the goddess Maat, you are a Pharaoh reincarnated as a hieroglyph on the walls of your own tomb in Path of Ra. In this ancient Egyptian-inspired puzzle game, manipulate the bas-reliefs by moving tiles to progress through the levels and collect heart fragments.

Relive the story of this Pharaoh in an immersive adventure of handmade paintings available for free on Android and iOS with a great soundtrack.

Valorant and League of Legends in Game Pass

Announced last June during the Summer Game Fest 2022, the Riot Games games will be part of the Xbox Game Pass starting December 12. Given that these games are free, what's the advantage?

Well, in addition to making these titles available on mobile, Game Pass subscribers will enjoy several benefits. In Valorant, LoL and Wild Rift, in addition to a 20% experience bonus, all current characters will be unlocked and the next ones will be available for free upon release.

Game Awards 2022 winners

Without going back in detail on all the games that marked this year because the list is long, we still wanted to congratulate Elden Ring which won the award for the game of the year and Marvel Snap for the best mobile game of 2022.

God of War Ragnarok became the most awarded game on the list. The esport category is dominated by Valorant and more broadly Riot Games with its League of Legends events.

Game Awards results

But Riot also shines as the best adaptation of a video game in another format with the Arcane series. And back to mobile, it's Genshin Impact which wins as the audience's choice after a little spat with the Sonic Frontiers community.

By the way, we remind you that you can still participate in the Mobi Awards to elect the best mobile game of the year 2022.
