This week's mobile games news roundup

Discover the weekly recap of mobile games news on Android and iOS for the week of November 14 to 20, 2022! On the agenda this week: an Honor of Kings auto-chess, announcements for Warzone mobile, the beta of the next augmented reality game from Niantic and much more to discover in this recap. We'll let you read it all below. ⬇️

King's chess, an auto-chess Honor of Kings planned on mobile

Let's start this recap with some news about the Honor of Kings license. Known in Europe as Arena of Valor, Honor of Kings has been making big announcements for several months. This week, we discover the trailer of its auto-battler King's Chess, in the same universe as the MOBA. On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of Honor of Kings, TiMi Studios made this announcement during a stream and King's Chess is now added to the games we are particularly looking forward to at JeuMobi, such as Harry Potter Emerging Magic, which is still awaited in the West for 2023!

Opening of the beta Pokémon Trading Card Game worldwide

For those of you who are addicted to cute but brutal creatures, you've probably already had your hands on Pokémon TCG Live for weeks. But the replacement for Pokémon TCG Online finally opens its doors to the world this week. With the global release of the beta, trainers around the world can start collecting their crack team on Android, iOS and PC. 12 years after the previous game, Pokémon TCG Live features improved matchmaking and a redesigned interface.

Pokémon Trading Card Game live release

But will it be enough to convince trading card players already busy with Hearthstone, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Marvel Snap or even Legends of Runeterra? Except for the fans of the license, it remains to be seen.

MMO Honor Kings World and fighting game Codename: Breaking Dawn

Honor of Kings isn't just making noise with its auto-chess. Tencent's darling universe is planning to impose its style in all game genres. In addition to King's Chess, which will be very similar to TFT, the Honor of Kings universe is being enriched with an MMORPG called World and a fighting game called Codename: Breaking Dawn. Announced more than a year ago, Honor of Kings World offered a first sublime trailer that made you want to empty your wallet, but without revealing a release date.

Codename: Breaking Dawn has also been revealed in stream with a beautiful trailer, and we can see some gameplay on the official Chinese website if we dig a bit. No release date either, but we'll obviously keep you posted on the news about these three games.

Beta test of Peridot extended

This week, Peridot continues to expand its closed beta to new countries with Denmark. Niantic's original license that offers you to take care of a thousand-year-old creature like a tamagotchi in augmented reality has been rather quiet since last April. But if you're really too eager to see your Peridot evolve in your pocket like a strange mix between a puppy and a cosmic art deco blob in need of sick attention, you can arm yourself with your best VPN and create a new Google Play account in Denmark!

War Thunder Edge: the arrival of the franchise on mobile

Billed as a 3rd person military strategy game, War Thunder Edge will be the first title in the War Thunder license to launch on mobile. With Gaijin Entertainment at the helm of the game's development, War Thunder Edge is expected to enter closed beta soon and reveals more details about this realistic war simulation.

In any case, get ready for all kinds of battles, on water, on land and even in the air with War Thunder Edge.

Sacred Summons pre-registration opens

The MMORPG Sacred Summons opens its pre-registrations after a successful 10 million downloads in Asia. The game's open beta will launch on November 21 with over 30 guardians to unlock in a fantasy world to explore on the back of hundreds of collectible mounts or by flying freely. Create your character and choose from one of seven hero classes to launch on Android. For iOS players, you'll have to wait a little longer!

Release of the Netflix game Immortality

Netflix Games continues its publishing spree with the release of Immortality on Android and iOS. Made in full-motion video, the title asks you to solve the mystery of the disappearance of Marissa Marcel, an actress and rising film star. Study closely the video clips of the movies in which Marissa was filmed and inspect the backstage to discover the truth.

Available on Android and iOS via your Netflix subscription, this live-action title offers a fairly classic scenario but carried by a pleasant format and very well adapted on smartphone. Beware, you'll still need 12 GB of free space to install it.

UNO! Tournament Wildcard with 600k in-game to win

A little originalesport doesn't hurt, and this time it's UNO! mobile. With its Wildcard Series tournament, the popular card game is offering $600,000 in in-game prizes plus thousands of real dollars to be won, including $3,000 for the grand prize winner. The Community Cup Debut begins November 24 and ends December 3, so there's still time to work on your best directional changes.

Eversoul RPG unveiled in trailer at the G-Star

Already announced a few months ago, the RPG Eversoul from Kakao Games is revealed more in a dedicated trailer. Revealed at the G-Star 2022 in Korea, this trailer of Eversoul presents a rather classic gacha RPG in a medieval fantasy and apocalyptic universe.

With your custom deck, take on a wide variety of enemies and take the time to develop non-combat relationships with date mechanics. We'll keep you posted on a possible release date for Eversoul in the coming months, but pre-registration for the game should open soon.

Warcraft Arclight Rumble gave out beta keys this week

After an official presentation last May, Warcraft Arclight Rumble, the first mobile game in the World of Warcraft license, has been in the news this week. In a tweet from the game's official account, Blizzard invites players who want to participate in the Warcraft Arclight Rumble beta to ask nicely for a chance to win one of the 50 available keys.

Leaders Warcraft Arclight Rumble in beta

The winners were selected for the passion, humor, intelligence and originality of their answers. Beyond this amusing news, this kind of initiative can suggest that the development of Warcraft Arclight Rumble is progressing and that new phases of test will soon be offered to a wider audience.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Leak

On the leaks side, this week, it's Fortnite that has been the target of dataminers. With the arrival of Fracture, the final event of Chapter 3, on December 3, rumors are spreading about the content of Chapter 4 Fortnite. Among the new features that should be released soon on Fortnite, we note the flying animals that will serve as mounts, or a first-person camera.

Rumors were also talking about the arrival of Fortnite's creative mode version 2.0. Unfortunately, Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, announced on Twitter that the Unreal Editor for Fortnite would arrive no earlier than the end of January 2023.

RTX comes to mobile

This week Qualcomm pulled out all the stops by announcing ray tracing on mobile with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, and while some of us may not be too interested in comparing RTX On or RTX Off, let alone on a small screen like mobile, that's not the only issue with this announcement. The goal with this addition of RTX on mobile is to ensure full compatibility of ports between consoles, PC and mobile and to encourage developers of AAA titles to create full experiences specifically for smartphones.

Trailer of the game Goddess Order from Kakao Games

One day before the launch of the G-Star 2022 convention in Korea, Kakao Games releases a trailer for Goddess Order. This action-RPG with a retro pixel art style is gradually revealed in images and features engaging characters in addition to tactical battles where you can even defend yourself by blocking or dodging your opponent's moves. The presentation of Goddess Order teases the community ahead of its release in 2023.

Ubisoft and Riot Games want to reduce in-game cat toxicity together

Video game publishers are experiencing a notable increase in recent in-game toxicity. So the champions in the field, I named Riot Games and Ubisoft, have been trying to collaborate for 6 months on a project called Zero Harm in Comms. This project obviously aims at reducing the toxicity of in-game chats, even if we still don't understand how since the only concrete release on the subject talks about insult recognition and anonymized player database. In any case, as Riot's economy relies a lot on flame and ragers, we hope that this strategy of recycling trash talk won't harm their turnover.

Pre-registration for Warzone mobile opens

You ask us for news about this game every week in comments... Well, Call of Duty Warzone mobile is back in the spotlight with this week's news. The long awaited FPS from Activision has just opened its pre-registrations and is scheduled for a potential release in May 2023. It won't be your Christmas present, but it's still better than no release date at all!

Brawlhalla x Avatar Partnership

Square Enix Montreal, which was working on Avatar: Generations to adapt the Airbender universe to the tactical format on mobile, announced its closure in early November, after a rebranding as Onoma. But Aang isn't going to completely disappear from our lives on Android and iOS as Brawlhalla this week embarks on a partnership with the Avatar license. So get ready to play or face Aang and the fury of his four elements on Brawlhalla x Avatar!

More Nintendo games on mobile

Even if we are still waiting to see Link face Ganon on phone with a direct adaptation from Nintendo, some major licenses from the Japanese firm have already jumped the gun with titles like Mario Kart Tour Animal Crossings Pocket Camp, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Unite or even the Dr. Mario World failure.

Nintendo games on Android and iOS mobiles

This week, Nintendo declares that they want to invest even more in their mobile games in order to reinforce their flagship licenses on console with a maximum of compatibility. And we're already rubbing our hands together waiting to see what they have in store for us!

Candy Crush celebrates its 10th anniversary

If you don't already have cavities after celebrating Halloween or St. Martin's Day, you should know that we are also celebrating the 10th anniversary of Candy Crush. Beware of candy overdose and strange tournaments that marked this decade, especially hosted by Khloe Kardashian and Doja Cat, if you missed this historic event.

But as Candy Crush is still doing well at the top of the match-3, it still has a part of its history to write. On the other hand, it is not known if this history will be in the hands of Microsoft or not with the purchase of Activision Blizzard King. In any case, the CEO of Microsoft assures that Candy Crush is much more interesting for them than the acquisition of Call of Duty.
