On paper, the mobile game New Dawn has everything to please. An open-world sandbox title, it borrows a lot from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, both in its aesthetics and in its gameplay mechanics. But what is it really like? Let's go over our first impressions of the test version of New Dawn.

An ambitious title for a young studio

Coming out of nowhere, New Dawn is an RPG developed by Seasun Corporation, a young studio that has just celebrated its first birthday. After 3 modestly successful games, this is their most ambitious game and it could well raise the hype. Indeed, the studio has just released a version of New Dawn to gamers around the world test which we have just tried for you.

In this teaser for test from New Dawn, we learn that they will have to fight the forces of the Demon Lord, an evil being who, like Sauron or Voldemort, has waited many years for the right moment to make his return.

Our impressions of the test version of New Dawn

To begin with, the core of the game is very similar to what we saw in the last Zelda. We find the durability of weapons, the harvesting of resources with different tools, the crafting of items as well as the recipe system.

However, New Dawn also incorporates construction features, which, although the context is completely different, are not unlike the gameplay of Valheim. The construction system is one of the black spots of this version test of New Dawn that you can play. Indeed, it is very complicated to place an element at a precise location, even when using the advanced construction mode. A free camera would probably solve this problem.

Visually, I have to say that although this is only a test version of New Dawn, the game looks great. I haven't been able to visit all the different environments yet, but the exploration should be full of surprises. However, the graphics quality will need to be adjusted on some devices to ensure smoothness. I tested the game in medium quality, but at 60 frames per second.

In the end, this version test of New Dawn offers a game full of good ideas taken from all over the place. Although it's not without its flaws, it's a promising game whose evolution should be followed. Moreover, co-op features for up to 7 players are already planned.

We don't have a precise release date yet, but the title should be released in 2022. Until then, you can try New Dawn by downloading it from TapTap. And if you want to discover other games of this kind, I redirect you to our top of the best mobile RPGs.
