Amazon announces two new mobile games

Amazon Games launches two new mobile games for children

Amazon Games hasn't released a mobile game since Lost Within and Til Morning's Light in 2015. But the video game development arm of the American giant is making a comeback on the smartphone market with a very different approach. This time, Amazon is turning to young people with two new games for its Amazon Kids+ offering.

What is Amazon Kids+?

Amazon Kids+ is the children's equivalent of Amazon Prime. It provides access to a catalogue of films and series, a music streaming platform, free games every month as well as in-game content and one free subscription per month on Twitch.

This subscription for younger children includes books, movies, shows as well as apps and games. In short, it is a complete package for children, halfway betweeneducation and entertainment. This content package is available on Android, iOS and Kindle devices. The Amazon Kids+ subscription costs $2.99 per month with a one month free trial. It is currently only available in Germany, Japan, Canada, the UK and the US.

Amazon Games launches two new mobile games

After having tried its hand at PC games with New World and Lost Ark, Amazon Games is returning to its first love: mobile games. For this comeback, two games adapted from original Prime Video animation series have been added to the Amazon Kids+ catalogue.

Super Spy Ryan

Super Spy Ryan is an arena fighting game adapted from the animated series of the same name, itself inspired by the YouTube channel Ryan's World. Players compete in a 3-on-3 battle to recover the gifts stolen by the evil Packrat.

Children will of course be able to find all their favourite characters from the series and customise their outfits and equipment. Super Spy Ryan is already available via Amazon Kids+.

C, D & E

Another adaptation of an animated series, C, D & E is a musical game for 3 to 6 year olds. Several mini-games are proposed to awaken the senses of the youngest through music. The game is primarily based on practice, with piano and percussion pieces. However, the theoretical aspect is also covered with the basics of reading a score or learning certain technical terms, such as solo, duet or canon.

The game's voice cast includes actresses Jackie Tohn (GLOW) and Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars, The Good Place). The game C, D & E is also available now through Amazon Kids+.

On the competition side, Netflix has already launched into mobile games with several titles such as Stranger Things, Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legend Story, Asphalt Xtrem and various card, golf, basketball and shooting games.

What market for Amazon after mobile games?

Amazon continues to multiply its activities. It is fair to ask what market Amazon will enter next? Well, if Amazon is going to continue to focus on the younger generation, the metaverse seems like a good place to start.

To prepare users for the arrival of the metaverse, Amazon recently made available the game AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner. The aim of this serious game is to train Internet users in the fundamental concepts of the Cloud and its various services in the form of a role-playing game.

As we mentioned in a previous article, Epic Games has teamed up with LEGO to create an immersive virtual environment where children can play safely. So we're getting closer and closer to the metaverse war, which will see Facebook and Epic Games battle it out. Given that Jeff Bezos likes to play on all fronts, it's hard to imagine Amazon not getting in on the act, especially with announcements like this.
