Playing video games on Netflix, already a reality

Video game Netflix Stranger Things

If you follow the news of the various video game subscription services from afar, the rumours concerning the appearance of a Netflix video game service on mobile will not have escaped you. For several months now, we've been juggling leaks, half-hearted announcements and high-profile rumours. It's hard to tell the real from the fake. However, this week, the Netflix subscription service is extending to video games.

A very fast start for the video game on Netflix

At this stage of the rumours, we had no idea that Netflix would move so quickly. However, the subscription to video games on Netflix has already been available in Poland for several days. As you might expect, the service is being offered at no extra cost at this stage of development. Rather than putting forward real triple A's, the American giant should focus on content extensions. So you could play in the world of your favourite series and films for a few hours to extend the fun. All this would take place on your mobile, without interruption.

Here is the official tweet of the launch of the service in Poland, the first country to have access to it.

In French, this means :

Let's talk about video games on Netflix. Starting today, Polish subscribers will be able to test two mobile games on Android: Stranger Things 1984 and Stranger Things 3. We're still in the early stages and we have a lot of work to do in the coming months, but this is a first step.

In addition, the tweet in response provides further welcome clarification.

Be sure of this:
- no ads
- no in-app purchases
- games available directly with Netflix subscription

We will keep you informed of any changes.

A future that remains unclear for these mobile games

For iOS players, nothing has been revealed yet. Nor has anything been revealed about TV apps for big screen play. On the other hand, Netflix has confirmed its desire to quickly expand the number of countries with access to these video games via subscription.

Although official, this information should be taken with some hindsight. Indeed, the American company has the habit of regularly revising the price of its packages upwards, so today's accessibility may not be tomorrow's. And we're a long way from the Xbox Game Pass competitor that some of the big titles have tried to sell us. Wait and see... Or get a VPN. 😛

Otherwise, if you want to find video game on Netflix, why not check out the new animated The Witcher movie after the release of the Witcher game in AR or wait until the arrival of the Arcane series from League of Legends?

Yaya
Yaya Yaya would never have spent a single cent on a mobile game. At least, that's what the legend says.
