A wild video, as short as it is mysterious, appears on the official YouTube channel of the game Pokémon Go this Monday evening. Accompanied by very soft and relaxing music, the 20-second video shows a mountainous landscape taking shape and eventually creating a logo with the title Season of Heritage followed by the words Coming soon. But what can we try to deduce from this unexpected announcement?
As the most loyal followers of the universe know, this year is entirely devoted to the 4th generation of Pokémon , which first appeared in 2007 with the Diamond & Pearl versions and has just been given a makeover for the new Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl versions.
The region of Sinnoh, a favourite among gamers, is well known for its large map and varied climates, but especially for its iconic Crowned Mount. Simple coincidence or clue? The central element of the Season of Heritage logo shown in the video Pokémon GO obviously looks like the famous mountain. The latter also illustrates the cover of the next big game of the licence.
In addition to its scenery, the video also shares an original graphic style inspired by Japanese ink paintings that can be found in the communication of the upcoming main game on Nintendo Switch: Pokémon Legend Arceus.
Announced for January 28, 2022, the game will also take place in the region of Sinnoh, renamed Hisui for the occasion, as the action takes place in the distant past, before the arenas, badges and even pokéballs that we are used to using.
Another specificity announced for this game will be the appearance of new alternative forms of Pokémon already well known such as Caninos, Zorua or Braviary.... Contrary to theforms of Alola or Galar already known to the players, these are presented as primitive forms from which the Pokémon that we know are descended. A kind of pre-Heritage of Season of Heritage...
It is not Niantic's habit to present events or features without warning and without explanation. We can therefore easily deduce that this communication stunt is orchestrated by Nintendo, which is in the midst of promoting the upcoming game Pokémon Légende Arceus. It is therefore very likely that this mysterious trailer announces events and/or features related to the release of the latter. We can of course imagine the alternative forms of Pokémon in game but also new field studies or even a special cup in the league. Finally, it is also possible to see the legendary Pokémon Arceus in Pokémon Go.
Anyway, it's good to know that the game has some nice surprises in store for us, probably right after the Chinese New Year event. Can't wait to see what's behind Season of Heritage!
