Sucess story PUBG Mobile: one billion downloads reached

Sucess Story PUBG Mobile

Symbolic bars are meant to be surpassed, but some command more respect than others. With more thana billion downloads, PUBG Mobile is making a mark. This places the game among the great classics of the mobile market. This performance is all the more remarkable given that we are not even counting the Chinese version Game for Peace, which would add a nice batch of additional players. For the moment, only Subway Surfer and Candy Crush Saga have more downloads. But if PUBG Mobile keeps up its momentum, it shouldn't be long before it overtakes them too!

Launched in 2018, PUBG mobile's popularity has quickly surpassed that of the PC version by riding the Battle Royale hype. Buoyed by a dense tournament circuit, it is now among the best competitive mobile games.

PUBG Mobile download revenue estimated at $5.1 billion

PUBG Mobile is free-to-play, so it doesn't cost players a single cent when they download it from the PlayStore orApp Store. But the one billion downloads still pays off big time, thanks to microtransactions in the in-game shop. Between Combat Pass and skins, the community has more than one reason to pull out its bank card. According to Sensor Tower's analysis, the success story of PUBG Mobile has already generated more than 5.1 billion dollars (including the revenues of the Chinese version). The Battle Royale is also very lucrative in China ($2.8 billion). The rest of the podium is occupied by the United States and Japan, while Europe is lagging behind.

Big year 2020 for PUBG Mobile.

While 2020 has been a rough year for many, PUBG Mobile has done very well during this pandemic period. Of course, some events have been cancelled. But when bars, cinemas and theatres are closed, many people turn to video games. It was in March, when the lockdown began, that gaming had its best month ever. The Battle Royale thus generated 2.7 billion dollars in 2020. This is more than half of its total revenue, even though the game has celebrated its third anniversary. If you average the daily revenue over the year, you get an impressive $7.4 million per day!

A busy schedule

However, PUBG Mobile does not intend to rest on its laurels. The developers have taken the time to celebrate their success, but they intend to continue their march forward. Several big projects are currently underway and the game is expected to continue to make headlines in the gaming world.
