LoL: Wild Rift patch 1.1, smite nerf for laners

Wild Rift patch 1.1

LoL: Wild Rift takes its cue from its big brother, League of Legends, when it comes to balancing. On a regular basis, patches are released to adjust the game and players look forward to the new features. This time at the top of the list for this mid-cycle patch, Wild Rift nerfs the smite (summoner spell), Bliztcrank and anti-tank items. So it's a very light mini-patch for the Christmas period and it's still within the scope of cycle 1.1, but it does bring some welcome balancing to the game experience. We were getting tired of seeing smart guys playing with a Smite on the lanes. An unnatural strategy, but one that paid off.

On one side the happy ones and on the other the disappointed ones of the patch.

Wild Rift nerf punishment, only for laners

Junglers can rest assured that the summoner retribution spell nerf will only affect LoL: Wild Rift laners. Junglers will not be affected at all and will be able to continue their traditional jungle route in peace! Only laners who use an overly optimal strategy will be affected by this decision. For the first 5 minutes of the game, having a Smite will reduce the experience gained from minions by 20%. So it's not worth it at all if you are a laner (Top, Mid, Bot).

This decision seems wise since some tryharders had noticed that smite could be very profitable. On the one hand, it quickly gave interesting combat statistics once improved (illuminated punishment). On the other hand, it allowed to farm very quickly between its lane and the nearby jungle camps. The party is now over and it is no longer possible to abuse this unconventional strategy.

On the champion side: a blow for Blitzcrank

Wukong continues to be a long time coming and the community is waiting to see the release event dedicated to it.

However, things continue to move on for the champions on Wild Rift, who are not content with just punishment nerfs in this mini-patch. Blizcrank has been deemed a little too powerful and suffers several small nerfs.

  • less mana and mana regeneration
  • no recovery time on his shield
  • less damage to its propelled grapnel and a reduced hitbox
  • increase in its speedpenalty

It's a bit harsh for this very popular champion. But it's probably deserved. Rule number 1 on LoL: Wild Rift, the developers never make mistakes 😀
