Don't forget that the Spotlight hours run from 6pm to 7pm local time. Note that all these Pokémon are available in their Shiny form. Even if the Shiny rate isn't boosted, this will be offset by the number of spawns that appear during the Spotlight hour, giving you a good chance of getting a Shiny Pokémon.

Our general tips for making the most of the Pokemon GO Spotlight hours in April 2024

To make sure you don't waste a minute, here are our preparation tips:

  • If you want to catch a lot of Pokémon, consider having your storage space cleared. Depending on how fast you're catching Pokémon, we recommend that you have between 20 and 80 empty spaces in your Pokémon storage area.
  • If there aren't many spawns where you are, don't hesitate to buy some Incense in the shop. One Incense costs 40 PokéCoins, and a pack of 8 costs 250 PokéCoins. You can also sometimes get some as a reward for Timed Research or Special Research. Alternatively, try to land a Pokémon in a Gym this week to earn PokéCoins.
  • Don't forget to keep an eye on your PokéBall stocks, especially if you're using a PokéBall Plus, Pokémon Go Plus, or Pokémon Go Plus +. It would be a shame to rely on your catcher when it can't catch any more Pokémon due to a lack of PokéBalls. Go around PokéStops and open your friends' gifts to replenish your stock.
  • Check your stocks of Candies, especially your Razz Berries, so you can quickly catch Pokémon with high PC or that are hard to catch, and your Pinap Berries, so you can double the number of Candies you get after each capture.
  • Make sure that the battery on your mobile device is sufficiently charged so that you don't run out of battery in the middle of the Spotlight hour.

To do this, make sure you're a little ahead of the game and get there a little earlier than 30 minutes in advance.

Spotlight hour on 16 April 2024: Caterpie, Weedle and Wurmple

Pokémon GO Spotlight hours April 2024 - Caterpie

Next week's Pokemon GO Spotlight Hours in April 2024 will focus on insects! Weedle already had a Community Day in 2020, but Caterpie and Wurmple still haven't had one. So here's your chance to get a shiny Caterpie and a shiny Wurmple!

The bonus will be: x2 Stardust when you capture a Pokémon. As a result, you can use a Star Piece to get a 50% Star Dust bonus for 30 minutes, giving you a total bonus of x3 for half the Spotlight hour.

If you get the chance, we encourage you to Mega Evolve an Insect Pokémon: Beedrill, Scizor, or Heracross, which will be available in Mega Raids for the first time on 13 April. Note that this also works if you have Primal Kyogre, which also boosts Insect Pokémon. This will give you a bonus in XP and Candy when you capture a Caterpie, Weedle or Wurmple.

Finally, don't forget to make some nice throws (or super throws or excellent throws). As part of Bug Out, which runs from Friday 12 April at 10.00 a.m. to 17 April at 8.00 p.m., you'll earn extra XP, Candies and Candy XL if you're successful with your throws.

The Pokemon GO Spotlight Hours in April 2024 continue with Trubbish, the cute little Pokémon shaped like a bin bag. This is its first Spotlight hour, and it comes with a very interesting bonus: x2 XP when catching Pokémon.

Feel free to use a Lucky Egg to double the XP gained for 30 minutes. If you have the opportunity to spend Great Friend, Ultra Friend or Best Friend time with one of the friends on your contact list during the Spotlight hour, you'll earn even more XP!

The recommended Mega Evolves for the Trubbish Spotlight hour on 23 April 2024 are Venusaur, Beedrill and Gengar, for a bonus of Candy and XP for every Trubbish captured. Don't forget to also look out for the 2024 Sustainability Week bonuses, which will be cumulative with the Trubbish Spotlight hour bonuses.

Spotlight hour of 30 April 2024: Clefairy
