Energy Guide Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

Having trouble getting energy in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery? It's true that in this game, energy is at the heart of the gameplay. Without it, you can't advance in the story or in the years to come Hogwarts. So here's our special guide to energy in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery! For all the tips and tricks on how to get energy, it's over here! 🪄

How does the energy work in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery?

In HP: HM, energy is the most important resource. It simply allows you to carry out your actions and thus, to advance in the progression of the story. As we explain in our complete guide to getting started on Harry Potter, the aim of the game is to complete quests, to progress in the story, to progress from year to year to solve the riddle of the cursed cellars and to find out what happened to your brother.

Your maximum energy reserve increases over the years at Hogwarts, mainly when you complete your flying lessons. You start the game with 24 energy points. When your energy reserve is empty or depleted, the gauge fills up byone energy point every 4 minutes. This means that with a reserve of 30 energy points, the gauge fills up completely in 120 minutes. Every 2 hours, you can therefore spend all your energy.

💡 Tip: Remember to enable notifications for the game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery on your phone! This is because you will receive an alert when your gauge is full. This allows you to spend your energy without overcap. Since once the gauge is full, well, the gauge is full.
Alternatively, you can also play Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery on PC to always have the game running in the background. 🤫

Energy gauge exceeds maximum
No loss!

The big advantage I noticed, which differs a bit from other games with similar gameplay, is that the energy gauge is not "captured" if you gain energy points through a mini-game, levelling up, or whatever, while your gauge was full. These new energy points will simply be added to your gauge by exceeding the maximum allowed. Please note that this does not work with the energy points hidden in the scenery (see below).

Finally, a little advice, never leave the game without spending your entire energy gauge, unless you are sure you will be back on the game in less than 2 hours. It's so hard to earn, not spending it all would be a waste 😉

The energy hidden in the setting of Hogwarts : list of locations

Here is a list of all the places to get energy in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Repop times are different for each spot, but overall you can be sure to get your energy back by coming once in the morning and once in the evening.

Reserve of magical creatures: you have to tap on the little wolf that is close to the trees, before the forest.

Recover energy by regularly visiting the Hogwarts

The 3 Clubs at Hogwarts are unlocked from Chapter 7 in Year 1. Once you reach Rank 2 in a club, by going there (Hippogriff, Dragon and Sphinx), you can earn random rewards . Of these, you can get up to 5 energy points. But beware, getting energy is not guaranteed. You can just as easily get coins or pet food.
You can go there twice a day (in the morning and in the evening) to make sure you get your bonuses.

Earning energy through mini-games

Each of the mini-games in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery allows you to increase your friendship level with your friends. And each time you increase your friendship level, you get rewards. Either you gain 5 gems (also a valuable resource), or you gain between 5 and 15 energy points (depending on the friendship level and the character). In any case, the 2 rewards are very interesting. So, as soon as it's available, play the mini-games!

Increased friendship level for energy recovery in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
  • Bavboules: costs 65 coins (year 1) / available every 16 hours or by paying gems to unlock instantly (but personally, I don't find it profitable, you'll spend much more than you'll earn).
  • Eating with a friend: costs 95 coins (year 1) / available every 10 hours or by also paying gems to unlock.
  • Drinking Jelly (unlocks in Chapter 8 of Year 3): costs 160 coins on average (varies depending on the friend chosen) / available every 16 hours or by paying gems to unlock.

Keep track of special events and log in daily

It is very important to remember to log in at least once every day to be able to collect the daily Time Buffer Card reward. Every day you earn a different pre-defined reward. Sometimes you will gain energy, and not just a little!

In addition, some special events allow you to recover energy. I'm thinking of the event where a Niffler is hiding in the background. By clicking on it, you get some of your precious resource back.

Finally, on several occasions during my adventures at Hogwarts, I have been able to obtain a very nice one-off reward. 150 energy points offered because I'm an avid player. 😅

Adopting a pet: a good way to recover energy

As soon as you have collected enough gems, you can buy a pet. For 200 gems you can buy a cat. Ideally, you should wait for the side quest with Hagrid and his dog Crockdur. Because to complete this side quest, you need to buy a cat! You might as well make it fun 😉

This pet follows you everywhere, and allows you to collect an energy point, several times a day, by simply tapping on it.
By the way, you can buy several pets that will be waiting for you in your dormitory. By tapping on them, you wake them up and gain one energy point for each pet.

Watch ads in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

From year 2 onwards, you will be able to recover energy by watching commercials. Each ad you watch will give you3 energy points. Of course, there is a limit to the number of ads you can watch (it varies between 3 and 5 ads per day).

Also, each day, you are offered to watch a daily video in exchange for rewards tempting: 5 gems, 75 coins or 6 energy points! This video is reset every 15 hours.

Reclaim energy in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery by winning a duel

Last little trick to recover energy! Go to the Dungeons, to the Dueling Room and engage in a fight. A victory will give you, among other things, an energy point! By the way, I'd like to take this opportunity to invite you to consult our guide on duels to make sure you win at (almost) every turn. ⚔️

All of our energy recovery tips are in your hands now! It's up to you to make progress on your adventure at Hogwarts with all the energy you've gained in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

Hello Shugo! Thanks for your additional information 🙂 !
Indeed, you are right, these 2 places are also a source of energy. But as I'm mainly targeting players who are starting the game, I didn't mention these 2 places which come much later in the game. Beginners are not yet familiar with the system, so I'm giving them a helping hand 😉
Thanks anyway, it will help some I'm sure 🙂
