Who is Xianyun Genshin Impact?

Xianyun has joined the list of the Genshin Impact characters. She is a catalyst-wielding 5-star character and one of the many Anemo supports.

Prior to knowing her as Xianyun, you might have first encountered her as Cloud Retainer, the Adepti of Liyue Harbor. Glimpses of her human form have been offered through Madame Ping and Guizhong's backstory during the 2023 Lantern Rite.

Cloud Retainer enters the Cloud Transmogrification state upon activating her elemental skill, which causes her to not take any fall damage. At the same time, she will use the Skyladder essentially giving her the ability to leap forward.

Skyladder can be used three times and while in mid-air similar to Xiao and Kazuha's skill, dealing Anemo Damage to targets hit. Should Xianyun do a plunge attack, the damage will be converted into Driftcloud Wave which metes out AOE anemo damage. The more Skyladder you use, the greater damage Driftcloud Wave will deal and the larger the AOE will be upon landing.

Her elemental burst on the other hand, is pretty reliable for a team composition requiring teamwide healing such as Furina teams. Upon casting Stars Gather at Dusk, Xianyun will instantly heal her allies based on her ATK, and will continue to restore health over time. The interesting part of her ultimate is the Starwicker mechanism.

While Starwicker is in effect, the active character will have the ability to jump higher and, therefore will be able to do plunge attacks. Each plunge attack will also be accompanied by another AOE Anemo damage.

• Finally, C6 opens up a new playstyle for Xianyun that essentially gives her the ability to become an on-field Plunge attack DPS. If C6 is activated, her elemental skill will not go on cooldown 16s after using her burst. Within this time window, she can use White Clouds at Dawn repeatedly for up to 8 times, allowing for a total of ten plunge attacks against her opponents.
