Release of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds on iOS and Android

Ni no Kuni Cross Worlds released on Android and iOS mobiles

Immerse yourself in a colourful medieval fantasy world with the release of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, the new game from Netmarble and Level5. Get ready to be amazed by this ambitious mobile MMORPG. We give you our first impressions in this article.

First impressions of the release of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

Upon exiting Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, the adventure begins as your character is thrust into a world completely unknown to him/her. You find yourself in the middle of a forest populated by strange animals who ask for your help to save the queen of the kingdom. To help you in your mission, you are accompanied by Cluu, a flying pig with a four-leaf clover on his head.

Character Cluu in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

Once you arrive at the first city, Esperance, you discover a world populated by humans, but also anthropomorphic animals and of course, pets.

One of the main qualities of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is the care taken with its scenario. You will discover the story little by little through numerous dialogues, but also and especially through the cinematics. And where the game stands out from most of its competitors is obviously in its artistic direction.

Gameplay for the release of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds on mobile

The Ni no Kuni license is known for its collaboration with the giant of Japanese animation, Studio Ghibli (Chihiro's Journey, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro, ...). And the release of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds confirms that, although this opus is exclusively available on mobile, the graphic style of the licence is still present, in the cut scenes but also in-game.

Complete and effective gameplay by class

Now that we've praised the story and graphics, it's time to talk about the gameplay. Upon release, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds offers a lot of content, with many quests spread over several areas.

When creating your character, you will have the choice between 5 classes:

  • Rogue: fast, ranged attack;
  • Destroyer: Hand-to-hand tank;
  • Witch: Magic ranged attack;
  • Engineer: support, technology and care;
  • Swordsman: balanced between attack and defence.

In addition to his basic attack, your character has 3 class skills. You can add to this 3 active and 3 passive special skills. Each of these can be upgraded individually to increase their stats.

As I mentioned earlier, the world of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is full of little creatures that can help you. For example, you can equip up to 3 pets, which boost your power. To get new pets, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds integrates gacha mechanics.

Familiars of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

As with Pokémon, your pets and weapons are elemental: Water trumps Fire, which is effective against the Plant type, which has the advantage against Water.

Too much automatic mode

In Ni no Kuni: Cross Worldsyou can automate everything. When you select a quest, your character moves to it by himself. When fighting, it's the same thing, you can choose to fight manually or switch to automatic mode.

Be careful not to overuse this automation, however, as you risk missing out on many rewards scattered around the map. Moreover, the game loses much of its interest when its gameplay is cut in this way.

Ni No Kuni mobile game new trailer

In the end, the release of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds confirms the quality of the license with a complete mobile game, which doesn't seem to have any major flaws at its global launch. It is therefore without hesitation that I recommend this game, available on iOS and Android, if you are fans of RPGs and Japanese animation. The only downside is that we still don't know how Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds will integrate the blockchain, as we recently told you.

Alco A fan of video games, SF, comics, cinema and new technologies, he is a bit of a geek cliché, but he assumes it.
